Day 1: Riga
Arrival in Riga, the Latvian capital. After being greeted by your tour guide, you will be transferred to your centrally located hotel. The way there is already as a small tour that ends in front of the hotel. Check in at Hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 2: Riga
After breakfast, explore Riga with a local guide. Riga is an old hanseatic city, founded in 1201. Discover the old town, which has 150 historic buildings, scattered throughout a maze of streets, unchanged since the thirteenth century. Old Riga is a protected area with narrow, winding, well restored and interspersed cafes and restaurant areas. Many buildings of Art Nouveau are the hallmark of the city of Riga. In the afternoon – possibility of visiting the great market halls of Riga (Zeppelin halls) with tasting of Latvian specialties. Spend the evening at your leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Riga.
Day 3: Gauja National Park
After breakfast, travel with your guide to the Gauja National Park. Visit the beautiful town of Sigulda, Latvia’s winter capital, known locally as the Switzerland of Latvia. Here you will visit the Turaida Museum Reserve including the 13th century German Knights’ Castle and Gutmanis Cave, the deepest cave in the Baltics, located on the Gauja riverbank. Opportunity for a lunch on a historical ancient manor house. Overnight stay at the hotel in Riga.
Day 4: 3 Pearls of Zemgale
The day is dedicated for a time travel to the most magnificent palaces and castles of Latvia. First of all – Bauska castle. The Bauska Castle ensemble consists of two parts. The oldest, a Livonian Order's castle, was built in mid-15th century, and only its ruins have survived. The newest, the residence of the Dukes of Courland, was built in the late 16th century.
Travel further to Mežotne palace - a charming residence in the classical style of the XVII century with an English style landscape park known for its natural beauty. The design of the park is said to have cost twice as much as the palace itself.
And last but not least for today’s tour is a Rundale Palace and museum. Rundāle Palace is an exceptional monument full of Baroque and Rococo art. Built in the mid 18th-Century by the Russian court architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, it was the summer residence of the Duke of Courland. The two-story castle contains 138 elaborate rooms, a lovely French garden and a museum dedicated to the history of Latvia.
Day 5: Riga. Departure.
Spend the morning at your leisure. Our driver will pick you up for the transfer to Airport.
